In Disciplines of a Godly Man Kent Hughes makes this statement:
“Essential to our effective petitionary prayer is a prayer list.” (p. 99)
Using PocketMod, I came up with the following for a prayer exercise we are going to try in our group. [file here] The first page is a place to put your contact info. Pages two and three (with the big boxes) provide an area for Adoring and Confessing to God through words and drawings (if you’re so inclined). Pages four and five provide an area to list specifics. Taking my cue from Hughes again, I think I will list the following before copying them for our group:
- Family
- Pastors
- Ill
- Grieving
- New Believers
- Missions
- Important Events
- Problems
- Ministries
- Weekly Worship
Hughes also write of “four other lists which I try to go through once a week” (p. 100). I was thinking we could list these lists on page six. Page seven provides a calendar so that we know what day of the week it is (and hence which list to pray through). This could be used for a while and then easily reprinted and filled out again as needed.
