The ESV has provided a plethora of options for reading through the Bible this year.
- READ: This page has seven different plans. Pick one and each day that page will be updated with the readings for that day. [Not able to actually go to the page? Get it emailed to you OR use RSS. More info.]
- LISTEN: Download your daily reading for you mp3 player. “If you commute to work 5 days a week, that’s about 260 days a year. If you listened to the Bible for 17 minutes each workday, you’d get through the Bible in a year.” [source]
- We are literate.
- We have technology like computers and mp3 players.
- We have a good translation of the Bible.
So why don’t we regularly read the Scriptures?
“I believe that our inconsistency in practicing the spiritual disciplines is not due primarily to an absence of self-discipline, but to the presence of self-sufficiency.” (C. J. Mahaney in Dear Timothy, p. 131)
So pride keeps us from the Scriptures–the very Solvent that wil help dissolve our pride.
“This book will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from this book.” [source]
